Chamomilla from (Matricaria chamomilla, German chamomile) The homeopathic remedy is made from the whole fresh plant. In herbal form, chamomile is used to treat nervous complaints and womb problems.

Constitutional indications:

Mental symptoms alleviated:
Inner turmoil; rudeness; spitefulness; being bad-tempered with everyone and everything, including oneself; being impossible to please, rather like a child who is quiet when carried but screams when put down; slightest pain or discomfort at night makes one jump out of bed and walk about.

Physical symptoms alleviated:
Slightest pain causes sweating and fainting; numb feeling in head; convulsions brought on by anger; throbbing sensation in one half of head, relieved by bending head back; one cheek red, the other pale; sever earache, with congested, blocked feeling in affected ear; tinnitus; teething, especially if accompanied by fever and greenish diarrhoea; toothache which responds to cold rinsing but flares up with hot drinks and also at night; yellow, coated tongue; heartburn; dry, hacking cough; coughing in sleep, and also when angry; feeling sleepy but unable to get to sleep; drowsiness in morning; anxiety dreams which cause one to start out of sleep and get angry; moaning and crying in sleep; skin which feels very hot; sticking feet out of bed at night to cool them; in women, heavy periods accompanied by severe labour-like pains; abdominal pain which causes legs to be drawn up; tearing pains in general; diarrhoea, with thin, slimy, pale green stools; stools which are hot and smell rotten eggs.

The above symptoms are almost always made worse by bad temper, and also by heat, cold winds, fresh air and belching; they also tend to be worse at night, from 9 p.m. onwards. Warm wet weather and fasting often improve matters; children feel better if they are carried.

Complementary remedies:
Belladonna, Magnesia phos.

Antidoting remedies:
Camphora, Nux, Pulsatilla.
